Emphasizing the single cane, Balintawak is a close quarter’s cane fighting style marked by simple yet effective movements. It is in its simplicity and focus on the fundamental skills that Balintawak is able to create an effective fighting system. A good comparison would be with boxing. The sport of boxing has only a few types of punches yet it is a deep art, rich in technique and strategies ,that creates devastatingly powerful fighters. Balintawak hones and sharpens the eskrimador’s skills in order to give him or her the ability to defend oneself with a cane.

Grandmaster Bobby Taboada of Balintawak Arnis Cuentada has been sharing his passion and the art of Balintawak for decades. Known as a fast and powerful fighter, he moves with wisdom of a veteran warrior and the power of a youthful athlete. He continues to spread what he has learned from his teachers  Grandmaster Teofilo Velez and Grandmaster Anciong Bacon.

In Pugad Lawin, Guro Terence employs Grandmaster Bobby Taboada’s Balintawak curriculum. As such the development of the students are inline with the grandmaster’s expectations and thus all progress is recognized by fellow Balintawak Cuentada players.

Guro Terence has earned the rank of Fully Qualified Instructor (FQI) under Grandmaster Bobby Taboada.
